How did you get started in the salon industry?
After 40 years in the industry, it’s hard to pinpoint one moment… but I’d say I fell in love with the industry right from the start. I’ve been lucky to have an amazing support network and mentors along the way and I’ve always felt driven to push boundaries and innovate.
What’s your biggest priority in the salon?
My team is the number one priority. Ensuring that they are heard, respected, and rewarded is essential. A happy and motivated team makes the salon a great place to work and provides an incredible experience for our clients.
How do you unwind after a busy day?
I love spending time relaxing with my husband and our dog. It’s the perfect way to switch off and recharge after a hectic day in the salon.

What’s your key piece of career advice?
Back yourself, trust your intuition, take risks, and don’t worry about what others think. If you do what feels right for you, the rewards will come.
Any favourite sweet treats?
I’m not really an ice cream eater, but I can never say no to a fruit gelato. It’s my go-to for a sweet treat!
How do you measure success in your salon?
We track pretty much everything! We use Kitomba reports to measure the strength of the team and use that data to inform our training and development. We also leverage a lot of the marketing tools in Kitomba to grow the business and engage with our clients.

What motivates you to stay in the industry?
The vibrancy and ever-changing nature of the industry have kept me motivated for nearly 40years. I still love the challenges, the creativity, and the rewards that come with this dynamic field.
What’s your current go-to song?
“No Man No Cry” by Jimmy Sax. It’s such a vibe and always helps me get in the right headspace.
What’s your most valuable business lesson?
Ask a lot, be content with less, and reward often. Someone shared this wisdom with me years ago, and I believe it’s one of the most important philosophies in business. Honest communication and respect for your team are key to creating a thriving business.
What advice would you give to aspiring salon owners?
Find your voice, surround yourself with the right people, and always focus on delivering a high-quality experience for both your team and clients. A motivated and happy team will lead to loyal clients and long-term success.
