The marketing world is fast paced and ever changing. Social media is a big driver of this and we now have numerous platforms(Facebook, Pinterest & Instagram to name a few) that are ideal for salons & spas to promote their business and services to both existing & potential clients.

What’s really exciting about this is that these platforms are accessible and very user friendly. We can now create and run very successful marketing campaigns ourselves, this creates a new and interesting challenge for us as business owners, which I think is pretty exciting!

There are lots of tools online that can help you become a better marketer, as always if you need to find some info or a “how to” Mr Google is your friend…somewhere in the world someone has blogged or YouTubed the solution to your problem!

Here’s a brief run down on 4 tools that I love and use regularly to create campaigns for my business. Some of them are free, others you need to pay for but they are very cost effective:

1. Postplanner: http://www.postplanner.com

Postplanner is an online Facebook scheduling tool, it’s an easy to use format that allows you to create a schedule of what days and times you post, create posts etc. What’s great is it has inbuilt content platform so you have amazing content at your fingertips to create posts. You can upload the pages you like so you have can easily share and re-post content from their timelines as well.

2. Canva: http://www.canva.com

Canva makes design simple for everyone. You can create designs for web or print. It’s great for blog graphics, presentations, Facebook covers, flyers, posters, invitations and so on. It has a very easy to use drag and drop format and you can upload your own graphics to the platform so you have all your pictures, logo’s etc. on hand. Once you have finished your design you just download it to your computer.

3. Pinterest Pin it button: https://about.pinterest.com/en/goodies

The Pinterest browser button makes it easy to save creative ideas from around the web – like a great hair/beauty pics or product blogs. All you have to do is add the Pinterest browser button to your favorite browser, and you’re ready to go. The button appears as you are browsing and then you can choose which board you would like to pin it on to.

4. Woobox: http://www.woobox.com

Woobox helps you easily create powerful contests, sweepstakes, coupons, quizzes and more to grow your audience and amplify your marketing on Facebook. Woobox is great for setting up your app tabs (on the left hand side of your Facebook page) so your fans can easily check out your website, sign up for your newsletter or jump to your Pinterest and Instagram. The tab apps are free or if you want to get into running polls, sweepstakes coupons etc. you can sign up for a monthly fee.

The key ingredient for success in marketing is allowing yourself time to plan and work on your marketing strategy each week. Take time to look and play around with the various tools like I have listed above, they will help you take your marketing to the next level.
