NZRAH Business Awards
It's not uncommon for the industry to place emphasis on the creative and technical skills involved in running a salon - this award focuses on the business skills of running a successful salon. All entrants will receive a list of guideline for measuring a salon's business performance.

The premium award is the Kitomba Top Performing Salon. This award comes with a first prize of:
- a Trip for 2 to the Sydney Hair Expo (incl accom)
- free Kitomba for 12 mths and
- free Telecom Broadband for 12 mths.
Other prizes include trophies and 3 months of free Kitomba.
The winners were announced at the Business Awards held in Wellington in conjunction with the NZARH Photographic Awards and World of Wearable Arts Show.
The 2007 Top Performing Salon in New Zealand is Balliage in Wellington run by Janine Simons & John Birnie.
John & Janine quote "It's a great thrill to win this award. We feel very proud and so pleased for all our team. We really think the award reflects the hard work we've all put in and the focus of thinking about the business side of Balliage as well as the creative Great Hair side
The Highly Commended Salon in the Top Performing Salon category was won by Headquarters Design Space in New Plymouth run by Tanya Patene. Tanya Patene "A team that enjoys working together stays together and we can certainly say that about Headquarters [Design Space]. Tanya and the team would to thank the NZARH and Kitomba for giving us an opportunity to benchmark ourselves within our industry".
The 2007 employer of choice was won by Carol Walker and CHS in Mt Maunganui. Carol Walker quote " It is so good to be recognised as the Employer of Choice. Thank you to all my team, thank you Kitomba"
All salons benefit from entering as every entrant receives feedback on how their business compared to all other entrants. This 'benchmark' provides a great learning tool and invaluable information on industry performance and in what areas they can improve their salon. Small salons are not disadvantaged as the entry criteria look at percentages rather than absolute dollar numbers.
